At around midnight on ]uly 6, Fernie Search and Rescue was contacted by the RCMP to look for a lost mountain biker.

The biker, a local man, was thought to be in the Mount Fernie area and had been missing for around 10 hours.

Search and Rescue deployed a number of vehicles around the power line and sent a team on foot up Mount Fernie.

At around 3 a.m. the biker made his own way home, having spent over 12 hours lost in the Fairy Creek/Mount Fernie area.

Fernie Search and Rescue would like to take this opportunity to remind bikers and hikers, especially those venturing out alone, to leave detailed itineraries and expected return times with friends or family.
