Garry Adams, Sharron Thomas, Neil McDermid, Heather Callahan and Chris Thomas; members of Fernie Search and Rescue.

Fernie Search and Rescue were called out by the RCMP at around midnight on September 28. The RCMP had been contacted by a family member awaiting the arrival of their daughter and three young children, aged four, five and six, at their camp in the Flathead Valley.

The group had been able to communicate via a cellphone text message to indicate that their vehicle had become stuck. Fernie Search and Rescue attended with various vehicles in the area around the Pipeline Service Road, near the Wrangler's Cabin.

They were eventually located, their vehicle stuck in mud, in the early hours of Saturday morning in worsening weather. All the occupants of the vehicle were rescued in good health.
