Horse rider, lost
RCMP received a distress beacon signal from a spot device and requested the assistance of FADSAR to locate a woman in her late 50s. The only information was the subject was going into the flathead to meet friends at a cabin for some horse riding and was towing her own horse with a one ton truck and fifth wheel and she was not familiar with the area.
A RCMP vehicle and a FADSAR vehicle were sent to the location reported by the beacon where the truck was found with a note on it stating the truck was stuck and the subject was moving to the cabin on horse back. The ground was very soft and it was easy to follow the horse tracks to the subject.
The subject was safe and well and just a little upset due to being lost. The only directions her friends gave her were a little hand drawn map and she had missed the turn to the cabin where her friends were staying and ended up going in completely the wrong direction.
The RCMP managed to move the vehicle back to the highway where the subject then took over and returned home that evening.
