A witness reported possibly seeing a light aircraft crashing into Mount Fernie to the RCMP who called Fernie Search and Rescue requesting our services to perform a search of the area from the air if possible.  As this was an aeronautical investigation the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria were responsible for this search and sent their own aircraft to also perform a search. When the JRCC aircraft arrived at the scene the Fernie SAR response was stood down and the JRCC took over the search.  Nothing was found and no reports of an aeroplane not reaching its destination has subsequently been reported.
