RCMP were altered to a missing female from Cranbrook who had not turned up for work on Saturday after setting out to hike Mt Hosmer the day before.  RCMP located the womans' car at the Mt Hosmer trail head on Hartley Lake Road and called Fernie SAR for assistance in searching for the woman.  Fernie SAR responded with teams on foot hiking the Mt Hosmer trail and the trails around Hartley lake along with a team in a helicopter to search the upper trail and mountain ridges.

The woman was located by the helicopter team and when found she was with a friend far from the trail and it transpired they had missed the turn back down the Mt Hosmer trail and had carried ahead on the wrong trail, rather then turning back they decided to push on as they were heading down hill and thought they would eventually reach Hartley Lake road but unbeknowst to them they were heading down the back side of the mountain into dense bush.
