Two mountain bikers from out of town were following a well defined trail that unbeknowst to them led into an area that was being actively forested and disappeared.  The subjects knew there were other trails in the area and instead of heading back the way they came tried to head down hill to find another trail but as the area was being actively forested all the trails in that area had gone.  Sunset was upon the subjects and in the darkness they had gotten completely turned around and did not know which way to go any more.

As a result they called 911 for help and Fernie SAR were called to help look for the subjects.  The subjects had good cell coverage in the area and Fernie SAR contacted them and talked them through the process of finding their coordinates from their cell phone and once retrieved Fernie SAR knew where the subjects were and sent out teams to search in that area.

In the mean time the bikers had also called a local friend who also went to the area to look for the subjects, as Fernie SAR arrived on scene the subjects were just walking up to the resource road having seen the headlights of their friends vehicle.

Fernie SAR checked that the subject were ok and uninjured from scrambling around in the bush and once confirmed left the subjects to return back to Fernie with their friend.
