A member of the public reported seeing a fisherman falling from his boat and entering a log jam, the witness did not see the fisherman re-emerge from the log jam and so Fernie SAR were tasked to search the log jam fir the subject.

The initial reported location was assumed to be a known log jam and Fernie SAR dispatched switftwater team members to investigate the log jam.

Upon further investigation it was established the witness was not from the area and it was determined the subject had falled from his boat further up the river and was not in the log jam and had been picked up by a passing fisherman.  As the Fernie SAR swiftwater team were investigating the initially suspected log jam the fishing boat with the subject floated by and the team were able to establish the subject was fine and the team returned to base.

Additional Fernie SAR members waited with the RCMP at the boat take out further down river to ensure all the information now received was accurate and that the reported subject was indeed fine.
