Fernie SAR was tasked by the RCMP to undertake a search for a lost cross country skier. The individual, a 56 year old, had departed from the cross country ski  trailhead at the Fernie ski hill at approximately 1330. He became disoriented and was unable to find his way back to the resort property and the trailhead. Of note, he was a diabetic, which likely contributed to the disorientation. Two SAR techs on snowmobiles were able to quickly find the subject and return him to his vehicle after being rehydrated and warmed.
