Three rafters did not return home Wednesday night as planned and were reported as missing on Thursday morning. We were advised the men were going to float the Wigwam river on a 14ft raft, a 14ft raft is not suitable for the Wigwam river which is more suited to Kayaks which meant the men were not able to float large parts of the river and had to potage around many obstacles slowing them down drastically hence why they did not return as planned.
FADSAR along with the RCMP used ATVs and an RCMP helicopter to search the Wigwam river and surrounding roads for signs of the men and their vehicles. Their vehicles were found first and an extensive search of the river ensued with the men eventually located on Wigwam flats just above Purple Canyon uninjured.
